Yesterday I had myself a nice bike trip along the Dyle and the Demer all the way to Betekom to visit some nice friends!!!! Enjoy with me!
Today Koen and I went to the Van Gogh exhibition in Mons. The theme was The Birth of an Artist and it was about the time Van Gogh spent in the Belgian mining region Borinage where he was preaching to the miners but also sharing their life, a time during which he was transformed into an artist. Like a butterfly. So the exhibition was something like the view from inside the puppa. Quite dark, that is. A lot of miners, a lot of coal, of misery, sweat and hard work was all there was to see at the exhibition, with a few exceptions of the latter work of Van Gogh. Amazing to think that the artist of the most exploding colours was "born" in the greyest of regions. Rana just sent me this youtube-clip of one of our coming-togethers when Frogga was about to leave for the US last Summer. We are singing a song of Rana: On That Great Day! If perhaps disturbed by the style, the Christian lyrics or the lack of musical perfection, please at least note the following:
In this world of consumerism here are five ladies who know how to just have fun in a creative way without any help of Hollywood and without causing too much CO2-emissions... Enjoy! I'm not all too chronological in this blog. That's why I don't hesitate to now post some pictures that were taken before the ones of the previous post. Rana, my dear friend and cofounder of this blog went back to the U.S. last week. Here are some pictures from an evening I spent with her and two other friends. Rana stayed some days in my house before she went back. Frogga was also visiting with her husband from New York State. It was so nice to come together again! Thank you Rana for your friendship. To be continued across the Atlantic Ocean!!!! Look at this photo! I came together with some old friends and had a really nice time and we decided to share our cosy feeling with you so... What do you think? Aren't we the cosiest people? We felt this selfy could be on the cover of a music album!!! (Frogga felt a little marginalised in the photo - she said she would only be the tambourine player of our band...)
This very lousy photo shows the new bridge of Sundsvall across the bay. It will lead the E4-traffick past the town centre in stead of as before into it. My dad and I took some extra time this morning before he dropped me off at the bus station to cross this new bridge while it's still for free (from the 1st of February there will be a few of 9 SEK). As you see the weather is bad again. I was really lucky to have some real cold and snow during most of my stay here. |
