Why a frog blog?
On recent trips through the Belgian fields I saw this sign by the road with the text "Opgelet kikkers", meaning "Frog warning". It made me laugh, because I associated it to the elk warning signs placed along the Swedish roads. But whereas it's quite evident it's no drivers wish to bump into an elk driving along the road, a frog doesn't that much of an obstacle for any vehicle. Bad luck for the frog if it gets mashed by a car tired. But NO! The Belgian authorities looked up from their important affairs of splitting-the-country-or-not and what-language-you-have-to-speak-where-and-to-whom and how-to-deal-with-the-large-national-deficit and invested their important time and effort into protecting these small, slimy creatures from being mashed by cars and bikes while crossing the roads. Isn't this touching? Isn't this a sign that these authorities deserve a better reputation?
